First, pencil the lines on a piece of watercolor paper gently. Don't press too hard as this might damage the paper. Then tape the paper onto a drawing board using masking tape.
Step #2
The inking is done using nibs and waterproof indian ink. Be careful not to spill! This might take awhile so be patient and take lots of breaks!
Step #3
Finally the inking is done. Don't over ink but make sure to get all the details.
Step #4
Using masking fluid, mask away the shape of a lake and watercolor some blue and green on it. Always mix colors!
Step #5
Next continue on to the clouds, with more masking and painting and color mixing. Tissue can be used to pick up paint if it is too dark.
Step #6
While the paint is drying, start on the dress, but with more detail. The blob of purple on the girl's chest was a mistake *_*; But don't let mistakes bring you down! Always continue, no matter what!
Step #7
The painting is finished, but everything still looks too hazy and soft. We need something more bold and dark to spice it up. Watercolors is too soft, gouache is too bright, colored pencils won't be any good and markers are too transparent. What to do?
Step #8
Acrylics is the answer! Bring em all out.
Step #9
Using the acrylics, the edges of the skirt is added, the green ruins behind her and the ribbons and doves were done. Because acrylics are opaque, they easily paint over the watercolors and make it look more 3D and interesting!
Step #10
When all is done, use an old toothbrush and gently sprinkle some white mist over the whole painting, making it look fresh.
Step #11
Carefully remove the tape and scan it into the computer. Clean it up using Photoshop and that's that! You can view the finished painting here: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/17787022/
