Lilithia
MoonChild works in progress
This is a character of Lilithia, and she suggested this pose and the moon,
and both of us improved on the composition.
It was fun working with her and I hope you have fun too, seeing the works-in-progresses
of this character.
You can contact Lilithia if you
have questions about the character.
![]() First the pencilling is done. Though it looks very sketchy, the face is done with detail. |
![]() The picture is then inked, starting from the figure. I used waterproof indian ink and nibs so it will not smear then the paint is applied. |
![]() Finally the inking is done, and it cleaned up and darkened where the shadows are. The sketch behind is to remind me of the comet behind her. |
|
![]() The drawing is then taped to a drawing board using masking tape, and I masked out the stars and the comet using masking fluid. Then I laid a thick wash as background. |
![]() After that I laid a second background layer and did some more work on the dress. I sprinkled some white to create more textures. |
![]() After the painting is dried, I carefully took off the masking using an eraser and my finger. |
![]() I added her hair color and details on the moon, and outlined her in white. |
![]() Finally white sparkles and stardust is added generously using an old toothbrush. It brightens up the picture very much! |
![]() More details are added, eye color, flower petals and stardust. The painting is then scanned in twice on my A4 scanner. |
![]() Using Photoshop 7, I used Control Levels ( ctrl-L / image>adjustments>levels ) and played around with the circles marked in red. This will brighten up the picture. |
|
![]() Then I slowly and painstakingly erased the debris using the brush tool. This usually takes forever. |
